Red Alerts

When an emergency happens near you, you'll know.

Red Alerts are time-sensitive broadcasts issued by our moderation team — not by users — when a verified emergency affects a specific area. They appear prominently in the app and expire automatically once the situation passes.

  • Issued by moderators only — users submit reports; admins issue alerts.
  • Location-scoped — you only see alerts within a configurable radius of where you are.
  • Time-limited — alerts expire after 24 hours by default to avoid stale warnings.

Alert categories

  • Emergency
  • Flood
  • Fire
  • Crime
  • Health
  • Other

Red Alerts are not a replacement for emergency services. If you or someone near you is in immediate danger, call the police on 191 or fire service on 192.

What can you report?

Four categories covering the most common civic issues across Ghanaian communities.

  • 🚨

    Safety

Hazardous conditions, flooding, security concerns in public spaces.

  • 🔥

    Fire / Emergency

Fire, building collapse, rescue needed, mass casualty.

  • 🚧

    Infrastructure

Potholes, broken roads, collapsed drains, damaged bridges.

  • Utilities

Power outages, water supply failures, street light faults.

  • 🗑️

    Health / Sanitation

Illegal dumping, blocked gutters, disease outbreak.

  • 🫱

    Community

Local events, neighbourhood notices, missing person.

  • 🏛️

    Public Institutions

Schools, clinics, government offices, public services.

Why it works.

What changes when residents share what they see.

  • 🛠️

From one resident to a whole district

A single approved report becomes visible to everyone in the area — so one person spotting a pothole puts it on every neighbour’s map.

  • 🗺️

    Plan around what’s happening nearby

See ongoing outages, floods, and hazards in your community before you step out. The map reflects what residents are reporting right now.

  • 📣

    A record that stays public

Approved reports remain visible with status updates. The longer an issue goes unresolved, the clearer the public record becomes.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before you download.

Is Manbii free?
Core reporting — submitting reports, viewing the community map, and getting alerts for newly published incidents near you — is free to download and use. No ads. Optional premium features (such as expanded watchzones) are available separately.
Can I report anonymously?
Yes. Toggle "Report anonymously" before submitting and your name will not appear on the public map. Your account remains linked internally for moderation purposes only.
What happens after I submit a report?
Your report is reviewed by our moderation team. Once approved, it appears on the community map and flows through Submitted → Under Review → Published → Resolved. Approved, published reports then trigger nearby-incident alerts for neighbours who opt in.
How does moderation work?
Every report is reviewed before it goes public. We check that it is accurate, community-relevant, and does not violate our Community Guidelines. Rejected reports do not appear on the public map. See our full Community Guidelines at /guidelines.
Which areas of Ghana does Manbii cover?
Manbii works anywhere in Ghana. You can report issues in any city, town, or district — the map shows all approved reports nationwide.
I made a mistake in my report — what do I do?
Contact us at hello@manbii.com with your report ID and the correction. Our moderation team can update or remove the report for you.
